Hogg House Cafe in Ditchling offers a straightforward, well-loved spot for a solid breakfast or lunch, especially favoured by locals working nearby or passing through Tidys Yard. The vibe is casual and no-fuss, with a focus on freshly cooked, hearty dishes like sausages, eggs, and classic jacket potatoes — all done to order and served hot.

The cafe’s setting inside Unit 11 at Tidys Yard means parking is easy and plentiful, a definite plus for those stopping by to grab a quick bite during a busy day. Inside, the space feels clean and tidy, with friendly staff who seem to know regulars by name, creating a welcoming yet unpretentious atmosphere.

Visitors looking for a casual breakfast sandwich or a generous portion of chips with beans will find the portions satisfying and reasonably priced. The cafe clearly draws a steady local crowd, including workers from the surrounding area who enjoy a warming meal or a mid-morning sausage sandwich to keep them going.

While it’s not a place to linger over coffee or fancy décor, Hogg House functions well as a reliable pit stop for a homey, filling meal without fuss. Families visiting may notice there’s limited seating for young children, as highchairs appear to be scarce, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Overall, this cafe suits anyone who values straightforward, well-prepared traditional cafe fare, convenient parking, and friendly service in a relaxed, local working environment. Morning through lunchtime visits are when the place feels most alive, making it a practical choice to grab breakfast before the day kicks off or a straightforward lunch afterwards.

Food was lovely and piping hot. Cooked to order, excellent sausages here. Reasonably priced, was clean and tidy when visited. Only critism is maybe could do with a highchair or 2. Staff lovely and friendly, plenty of free parking outside.

I work next door, and the lovely smells keep me going all morning. I'm often treated to a sausage sandwich and it is always welcome. If you're on the estate, go get yourself some lovely local food.

Had the world’s best, and possibly biggest, jacket potato, two fillings, £6! Tea £1.20! Very friendly, inclusive staff and very dog friendly, my girl loved her complimentary sausage. Thank you, we’ll come again!
